A Review of the Slot Machine, Legend of Heroes Megaways

The 1930s and 1940s are sometimes cited as the “Golden Age of Comic Books” when superheroes first entered the popular awareness. Since Superman’s debut in 1938, DC and Marvel have been engaged in a friendly competition that shows no signs of abating. But heroes have existed for far longer than that—possibly even since humans first stood on two legs and grunted at each other to coordinate mammoth hunts. A few years later, in the realm of Pragmatic Play’s Legend of Heroes Megaways slot machine, you’ll find tumbles, Big Wilds, free spins, and even a gamble feature on top of everything else.

Keeping with the superhero theme for a little longer, Legend of Heroes Megaways has been called a rip-off in the same manner that DC and Marvel have been accused of mimicking each other. The game’s inner workings are nearly entirely lifted from an older Pragmatic Play slot called Power of Thor Megaways, despite its flashy, hero-filled exterior. However, they have succeeded in hiding it rather effectively. In Legend of Heroes: Megaways, home-brand heroes abound in a fascinating gear-ridden universe, apparently engaged in heroic activities, the nature of which are never made clear. Do you think they’re nice guys, terrible guys, allies, or foes? That’s anyone’s guess except ours. It’s hard to see what they’re trying to accomplish, but it’s being done in classic Pragmatic Play eye-rolling fashion.

In terms of raw numbers, not much has changed. Multiple RTP structures, with a maximum of 96.55% and a highly volatile mathematical model, are implemented in Legend of Heroes Megaways. The game may be played on any device, the betting range is 20 p/c to £/€100 per spin, and there appears to be no bonus purchase option. There are 6 standard reels and an additional horizontally tracking reel with 4 symbols that may double your winning combinations by a maximum of 117,649.

Winning combinations begin on the first reel and require at least two of the highest-paying symbol or three of the regular-paying symbols to appear on neighboring reels. Cards from 9 to Ace make up the low pay tiles, while the four heroes are utilized for the high pays; a winning combination of six symbols pays between 0.6 and 1.5 times the wager for the card symbols, and between 2 and 20 times the wager for the premiums. Last but not least, there are two types of wild symbols in the game. This one can replace any standard pay symbol and appears just on the first reel or is introduced to the main reels via a feature.

Slot Features of the Legendary Heroes Megaways

When compared to Batman’s utility belt, which had a plethora of gadgets, the Legend of Heroes Megaways doesn’t offer quite as much action. What it does provide, though, isn’t terrible: free spins with an optional gamble stage, plus tumbles and large wilds.

Tumbles

Both the main and additional game modes include Tumbles. When combinations of symbols that can result in a win appear on the screen, those symbols disappear and are replaced by new ones that fall from above. If the result of the fall is another victory, the feature will play again.

Big Untameds

The large wild symbol occupies two slots on the first reel and appears there exclusively. If it lands in a position where it can cover two adjacent positions, all of the symbols in the lower half of the reels will be replaced by wilds. When the large wild is rolled to a new location, it transforms all symbols underneath it into wilds. If the large wild is just partially visible or if it does not move after a tumble, the changes will not take place.

Bonus Turns

All reels can be used as scatter symbols, and getting 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9 of them triggers 10, 14, 18, 22, 26, or 30 free games. If a player has won 10-18 free spins prior to the bonus, they will have the chance to risk them for even more spins. A successful wager on a segmented wheel adds +4 spins, up to a maximum of 22, to the player’s allotted total. If you lose the wager, you’ll forfeit all of your free spins.

During free spins, the game alters by adding a progressive multiplier. After a fall, the multiplier goes from x1 to x2. In addition, getting three scatters during the bonus game triggers an additional four spins.

Review of the Slot Machine, Legend of Heroes Megaways

Selecting heroes who are not household names or who do not feature in myths and legends is a challenge since they risk being stereotyped as faceless generics. Legend of Heroes Megaways hints at this with its abundance of faceless, uninteresting characters. The fact that Legend of Heroes Megaways is almost identical to another game (except for the inclusion of a buy-in incentive) doesn’t help dispel this perception of sameness. Legend of Heroes Megaways, because to its solid gameplay and polished presentation, overcomes this to some extent. Pragmatic Play has put all of its refining talents to work on Legend of Heroes Megaways, and the result is a game that shines like few others. The end product is a visually pleasing slot that may have been built using the copy-and-paste method but still looks excellent.

Aesthetic appeal may seem inconsequential, but it helped me overlook Legend of Heroes Megaways’ obvious inspiration and focus on the game’s strengths. The features aren’t very innovative or novel, but they work reliably and may generate intense action, much like its template slot, Power of Thor Megaways. In a nutshell, players aim for the huge wild feature to provide free spins with a good multiplier, and then to smash down entire reels of wilds. Don’t get your hopes up too high, though; the frequency of free spins triggers in Power of Thor Megaways was just 1 in 510 spins. Additionally, the potential isn’t huge for a Megaways slot because Pragmatic Play maintained the same 5,000x the bet win ceiling it used in the last game.

If you want to gauge how much fun you might have with Legend of Heroes Megaways, try your hand at Power of Thor Megaways first. If the Thor movie stalled your motor, this one probably will too, but for those whose lives were genuinely upended, it’s a chance to relive the experience with familiar faces. The gameplay is excellent, as are the features; nevertheless, Pragmatic Play might have added some punch to their clone sequel by relaxing the victory maximum.
